AHS Annual covers are presented below, beginning with 1925, the last AHS Annual at the North Monroe and Society building. 1926 was the first AHS Annual at the Jefferson Street building and 1954was the last year in that building. 1955 was the first annual at the new building on Residence Avenue, continuing through 1972. Only 1929 and 1930 are missing during that span, but the search is on! Of special interest to us was the 1943 Annual. According to Marianne Smith Marbury, Mr. J. O. Allen did not allow a professionally published annual that year. He thought it unpatriotic to spend money on an annual with our nation in the midst of WWII. Marianne and other classmates decided to make an annual from construction paper ... stick figures were drawn and the text was typed. The annual listed only members of the senior class. Special thanks to the following: Mary Martha "Sissy" Reames (1936); Sam R. Yarborough, Jr. (1939); Thomas S. Yarborough (1937); Helen Long Cordell and J. J. Cordell (Teacher and Dougherty County School Superintendent); Franklin Coleman (1938); Frederica "Freddie" Cody Coleman (1940); Marianne Smith Marbury (1943): Lamar Clifton (1946); Joanne Fitzgerald Gauntt (1949); Tommy Pattison (1954); Betty Holt Pattison (1956); Henry "Hinky" Dunn (1959); Sara Pattison Dunn (1962); Nancy Reimer (1975); Kent Lofton (1977). Since this page was first posted in 2002, another annual has been added ... 1930, sent by Sybil Hodges Boggs (1957), whose step-father had duplicate copies due to the death of his siblings.
